FP&A Salaries 2026: Analyst to Finance Manager in the UK, Ireland and US

An FP&A salary in 2026 depends on three things: your level, your city and the size of the employer. In London, the Hays UK Salary & Recruiting Trends 2026 guide puts a large-organisation FP&A manager at £100,000–£125,000, typically £120,000. In Dublin, Morgan McKinley's 2026 Ireland guide has FP&A managers at €75,000–€120,000 depending on experience. In the US, Robert Half's 2027 Salary Guide puts an FP&A manager at $115,000–$161,250 nationally.

Below are the analyst, senior and manager figures for each country, where the gaps come from, and how to use them when you apply or negotiate. Every figure names its publisher, edition year and region. Recruiter guides report base salary bands, and Hays states that its figures exclude benefits and bonus.

Key takeaways

  • Hays 2026 puts a London large-organisation FP&A manager at £100,000–£125,000, typically £120,000, against a typical £90,000 in the North West.
  • Morgan McKinley's 2026 Dublin bands run from €60,000–€70,000 for a financial analyst with up to three years' experience to €100,000–€120,000 for an experienced FP&A manager.
  • Robert Half's 2027 US guide puts FP&A managers at $115,000–$161,250 nationally, and the BLS May 2025 median for financial and investment analysts in the New York metro is $128,930.
  • The biggest pay step comes with the move from analyst to manager, not from staying at the top of the analyst band.
  • Robert Half expects FP&A pay to rise faster than the finance average: 2.9% for UK FP&A analysts and 3.6% for US FP&A managers.

The UK row needs care. Robert Half's UK table shows the figures that appear before you pick a city. Its three columns are the 25th, 50th and 75th percentiles. Hays reports London separately, and London large organisations pay well above the Robert Half figures.

UK FP&A pay: analyst to manager

Robert Half's 2027 UK Finance and Accounting Salary Guide gives these percentiles:

Role (Robert Half UK 2027)25th50th75th
Part-qualified financial analyst£33,000£40,250£47,000
Financial planning & analysis analyst£46,750£53,000£60,500
Financial modeller£64,750£73,500£82,000
Finance manager£53,000£60,250£67,750

FP&A manager, financial services£73,250£82,750£93,000
FP&A director£85,000£105,000£120,000

Hays splits its tables by region and by employer size. In its 2026 guide for qualified staff:

  • London, large organisation: business/finance analyst £65,000–£75,000 (typical £70,000), finance manager £75,000–£85,000 (typical £80,000), FP&A manager £100,000–£125,000 (typical £120,000).
  • South East England, large organisation: FP&A manager £70,000–£110,000 (typical £100,000).
  • North West England, large organisation: business/finance analyst £54,000–£62,000 (typical £58,000), FP&A manager £85,000–£100,000 (typical £90,000).

Hays adds that FP&A manager and finance analyst titles are not usually found in SME finance teams. The exception is the many medium-sized businesses in London and the South East. If you work for a smaller company outside those areas, the FP&A title itself may not exist. Your work may sit under management accountant or finance business partner.

Morgan McKinley's 2026 UK guide shows the effect of sector inside London. A financial analyst with up to three years' experience earns £55,000–£70,000 at a large corporate and £50,000–£55,000 at a bank. A part-qualified financial analyst at a bank earns £28,000–£35,000. FP&A managers at London large corporates move from £65,000–£75,000 to £85,000–£100,000 with five or more years' experience.

Ireland: FP&A pay in Dublin and Cork

Morgan McKinley's 2026 Ireland guide gives three bands for each role, by years of experience. It names FP&A managers and financial analysts among the roles in demand in Ireland.

Role (Morgan McKinley IE 2026)0–3 years3–5 years5+ years
Financial analyst, Dublin€60,000–€70,000€70,000–€75,000€75,000–€85,000
Financial analyst, Cork€55,000–€65,000€65,000–€70,000€70,000–€80,000
Finance business partner, Dublin€65,000–€70,000€70,000–€80,000€80,000–€90,000
FP&A manager, Dublin€75,000–€90,000€90,000–€100,000€100,000–€120,000
FP&A manager, Cork€75,000–€80,000€80,000–€85,000€85,000–€95,000
Head of FP&A, Dublin€110,000–€130,000€130,000–€140,000€140,000–€160,000
Head of FP&A, Cork€90,000–€110,000€110,000–€120,000€120,000–€130,000

Morgan McKinley expects Irish accounting and finance salaries to be stable in 2026, with modest rises in line with inflation. The bigger increases go to people who change jobs, especially newly qualified accountants and niche specialists. If you're an analyst in Dublin waiting for an annual review to reach €75,000, that comment matters. The guide suggests the larger step usually comes with a move.

US: national ranges and New York

Robert Half's 2027 US Salary Guide reports low, mid and high figures. They are national averages unless you select a city.

Role (Robert Half US 2027, national)LowMidHigh
Financial analyst$72,000$83,000$94,000
Senior financial analyst$95,000$109,000$120,000
FP&A manager$115,000$143,000$161,250
FP&A director$142,000$173,000$198,750
FP&A vice president$171,000$213,250$255,000

The official benchmark is the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Its latest Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics data is for May 2025. BLS publishes no FP&A category, so the nearest is financial and investment analysts (13-2051). That group also includes investment analysts.

BLS OEWS, May 2025 (annual wage)10th25thMedian75th90th
US national$63,720$79,290$102,740$133,340$180,860
New York-Newark-Jersey City metro$79,340$103,140$128,930$174,990$225,390

In the New York metro, the BLS median is about a quarter above the national median. Robert Half's national FP&A manager mid-point ($143,000) sits between the BLS New York median and its 75th percentile for the wider analyst group. Use the BLS figures for an analyst-level benchmark. Use the Robert Half figures for manager and director levels, where BLS has no FP&A breakdown.

Entry-level FP&A: what juniors and part-qualified analysts earn

Few employers hire straight into an FP&A analyst title. Most people arrive from an assistant accountant, graduate scheme or audit role, and are part-qualified when they do. That's why the bottom of the ladder looks so different from one source to the next.

  • UK, part-qualified: Robert Half's 2027 UK guide puts a part-qualified financial analyst at £33,000–£47,000 (25th to 75th percentile). In London, Morgan McKinley's 2026 figures for the same title run from £28,000–£35,000 at a bank in the first three years to £40,000–£45,000 with five or more years' experience.
  • UK, by qualification: CIMA is built around management accounting, which makes it a common route into FP&A. Hays's 2026 London figures show a CIMA trainee typically on £35,000, a part-qualified student on £48,000 and a finalist on £60,000.
  • US: the BLS 10th percentile for financial and investment analysts nationally is $63,720 (May 2025). Robert Half's low figure for a financial analyst is $72,000.
  • Ireland: Morgan McKinley doesn't give a separate junior analyst band. Its Dublin financial analyst band starts at €60,000, which suggests the title there usually goes to someone already qualified or close to it.

If you're at this stage, the fastest pay route in this data is finishing your exams. Hays's typical London CIMA finalist earns about 70% more than a CIMA trainee.

How FP&A pay moves from analyst to manager

Look across these tables and the same pattern repeats. Pay rises inside each level as you gain experience, but the large steps come when your title changes.

  • US (Robert Half 2027, national mid-points): financial analyst $83,000, senior financial analyst $109,000, FP&A manager $143,000, FP&A director $173,000. Each step adds $26,000–$34,000.
  • Dublin (Morgan McKinley 2026): a financial analyst with 5+ years tops out at €75,000–€85,000. An FP&A manager starts at €75,000–€90,000, and a head of FP&A at €110,000–€130,000.
  • UK (Robert Half 2027 medians): FP&A analyst £53,000, FP&A manager £75,000, FP&A director £105,000.

The recruiters also expect FP&A pay to rise faster than finance pay overall. Robert Half UK expects FP&A analyst salaries to grow 2.9%, against a 1.4% average for finance and accounting roles. Robert Half US expects financial analyst pay to grow 3.8% and FP&A manager pay 3.6%, against a 1.8% average.

There's a catch for analysts in the UK and Ireland. As the analyst tables above show, an experienced analyst can earn the same as a newly appointed manager. The step to manager is the bigger pay decision, and hiring managers usually want to see people management or ownership of a forecast before they make it.

What moves your number within the range

The bands above are wide, often £20,000 or more. These are the factors the guides themselves tie to the top of a band.

Sector. Financial services pays more for the same title. Robert Half UK puts an FP&A manager in financial services at a £82,750 median, against £75,000 for the standard FP&A manager role.

Location and employer size. Hays's London large-organisation FP&A manager (typical £120,000) earns £30,000 more than the North West equivalent (typical £90,000). SMEs in every region pay less, where they have the role at all.

Skills employers say they pay for. Robert Half UK names financial analysis, data analytics, budgeting and forecasting, ERP systems and AI skills among the skills commanding higher pay. Its US guide adds forecasting and Power BI or Tableau for finance roles.

Negotiation. In Robert Half's UK research, 73% of hiring managers said they are willing to negotiate base pay. 42% are offering salaries above their planned ranges to secure top candidates. You don't get that room unless you ask. If you're unsure what to ask for, the 50th percentile for your city is a reasonable opening reference, and the 75th percentile needs evidence.

Using these numbers in your next application

A salary band only helps if your CV shows the experience that puts you near the top of it. Most FP&A adverts ask for the same evidence: forecast ownership, variance analysis, business partnering and a model someone relies on. Our FP&A CV examples show how to write those as bullet points without inflating them. If you're still at analyst level, the financial analyst CV example covers the earlier stage.

Then match the CV to the advert you're answering. If the advert names rolling forecasts and Power BI, those should appear in your top third with the result attached. Our walkthrough on tailoring a CV to a job description shows how to do that line by line. You can also see a finished FP&A analyst CV example to compare against.

At interview, salary questions usually come after the technical round. Prepare for both with our FP&A interview questions and answers. If you want to map the steps from analyst to the manager role you're aiming for, the free career path planner lays them out.

What matters most in this data is the title step. At every level, the step from analyst to manager is worth more than staying put at the top of the analyst band. Your next move is to pull three live FP&A manager adverts in your city and note what each asks for that your CV doesn't yet show.
